Don’t just count on using exercise equipment when trying to lose weight. You also need to eat a balanced diet. Let’s take a look at a popular diet.

Much has been written about the detox diet (detoxification) over the decades. It seems the past ten years, roughly, have seen an explosion of these diets. The basic principle is the same across all of them, and that is to use foods (or liquids) to help your body get rid of toxins. First, we must caution you and suggest you talk to your doctor before embarking on any kind of detox diet. Many people turn to this overall approach when they want to lose weight. While it is possible to achieve that, we feel the loss will be temporary for a variety of reasons. We will talk more about the detox diet in the rest of this article.

There are two basic approaches with many types of detox diets. First, the diet calls for avoiding foods that are known to introduce toxins in your body. Naturally, that is probably something every person should do, anyway. Secondly, the particular diet will recommend you eat foods, or drink liquids, that support the body’s ability to process and eliminate toxins. There is a fairly large variety of detox diets, and frequently they also require that your intake of calories is reduced, as well. You will find some that have you eat much smaller portions or even go on liquid fasting such as with juices, only.

While the detox diet can be dangerous if you have particular medical conditions, it can also be very beneficial if used properly. If you have conditions like intestinal problems, diabetes, heart disease, etc. you should not try the detox diet. The detox diet is a highly restrictive one, which is the main complaint of most doctors. The detox approach usually entails a diet that can be very restrictive even if for a short period of time. There are warnings of possible negative side effects for teenagers and younger children.

The number of different ways to detox are widespread throughout the world and it isn’t possible to mention all of them in this report. The Ayurvedic system of medicine that has been used in India for centuries has a detox system that is extremely effective. There are three distinct phases to the Ayurvedic cleansing method known as Pancha Karma. They are Purva Karma (rejuvenation), Pancha Karma (Cleansing), and Rejuvenation. Of the five “actions” to purification that make up the second phase, only three are generally used in the Western world. The entire body is treated using certain foods and Ayurvedic herbs to address the metabolism and eliminate wastes and toxins.

The effects of living in an industrialized society are often associated with the conditions that can be helped with the detox diet. Moreover, it is not so much the type of society as it is the lifestyles that are more prevalent within any particular society. Your stress level and your exercise and eating habits are all major factors.
